Bargaining

A Bargaining Committee in a teachers union is a group of elected or appointed members responsible for negotiating the contract with the school district on behalf of the union. They gather input from members, develop proposals, and work to secure fair wages, benefits, and working conditions through collective bargaining.

Common Core Steering

The Common Core Steering Committee is a group of educators and stakeholders who guide the implementation and alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with Common Core State Standards. They provide leadership, resources, and support to ensure consistent and effective teaching practices across grade levels and subjects.

Communications

The Communications Committee is responsible for keeping union members informed and engaged through newsletters, social media, emails, and other communication channels. They help promote transparency, share important updates, and foster a strong sense of community within the union.

Curriculum Advisory

The Curriculum Advisory Committee is a group of educators and stakeholders who review, evaluate, and make recommendations on curriculum development and instructional materials. They work to ensure that the curriculum aligns with educational standards and meets the diverse needs of students across the district.

An Elections Committee in a teacher's union is typically responsible for overseeing the entire election process—from verifying candidate eligibility and managing nominations, to distributing and counting ballots and reporting results to the membership or representative assembly. It may also hear and adjudicate election-related disputes and ensure that all procedures comply with established bylaws and democratic principles

They guide members through the grievance process, work to resolve issues with administration, and ensure that contractual rights are upheld.
